McKinsey & Company has elected Anna Mattsson as Senior Partner, reinforcing its leadership bench with an executive known for her expertise in corporate strategy, business transformation, mergers and acquisitions, and organisational change.
In her new role, Mattsson will continue to serve as Global Co-Leader of McKinsey’s Separations & Spin-offs practice while heading the firm’s Strategy & Corporate Finance Practice in Switzerland. She advises clients on corporate strategy, large-scale transformations, M&A, and long-term value creation.
Beyond corporate advisory, Mattsson has built a reputation for championing leadership development and talent strategy, reflecting the growing convergence of business transformation and people leadership.
As per a People Matters report, alongside her responsibilities at McKinsey, she serves as President of Advance – Gender Equality in Business, a Swiss organisation that promotes gender-balanced leadership and workplace inclusion. Her role underscores a long-standing commitment to developing leadership pipelines while driving organisational performance.
Before joining McKinsey, Mattsson spent more than 14 years at Deloitte Switzerland, where she held several senior leadership positions across financial advisory, mergers and acquisitions, and talent management. During her tenure, she led initiatives as Global Financial Advisory Head of Post-Merger Integration, Head of the EMEA Life Sciences M&A Community of Practice, Managing Partner – Talent, Head of M&A Integration & Separation Advisory, and Director of Post-Merger Integration.
Throughout her career at Deloitte, she advised multinational organisations on post-merger integration, business separations, transformation programmes, and leadership development, helping companies navigate both strategic and organisational change.
Mattsson later joined private equity firm Gyrus Capital as Operating Advisory Partner, where she worked with portfolio companies on operational improvements and value creation strategies.
Her earlier career included marketing and business development roles at Sony, where she gained international experience across product marketing, business development, and marketing communications. She also worked with CNC Communications & Network Consulting AG in communications consulting.
Mattsson’s leadership journey began well before her consulting career. She previously served as Vice President of AIESEC in Singapore and later as President of AIESEC Sweden, experiences that laid the foundation for her focus on international collaboration, talent development, and organisational leadership.
Her election as Senior Partner reflects McKinsey’s emphasis on leaders who can combine strategic advisory with deep expertise in organisational effectiveness. As companies increasingly navigate complex transformations, executives are expected to address not only financial and operational priorities but also culture, leadership capability, and workforce integration.
With experience spanning strategy, finance, talent, and organisational development, Mattsson’s appointment highlights the evolving nature of leadership in modern consulting, where business transformation is increasingly driven by both corporate strategy and people-centric execution.
